Make the most of the space!

As a resident of Change= you live in one of our studios in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, Amsterdam Nieuw-West or Utrecht Leidsche Rijn. The standard size of our apartments is around 30 m2, but there are different studio and apartment types. Residents of Change= therefore have to deal with micro living.

Micro homes are characterized by the efficient design, every space is used optimally. Do you live in a studio, but are you not quite able to get everything out of the space yet? We give you tips to make optimal use of the space!

1.       Multifunctional furniture

In a small home it is important to think practically. Multifunctional furniture is a must for this! Nowadays you also have plenty of options, such as an extendable dining table or bed and a fold-out couch or desk.

2.       Create peace

A micro home usually consists of one room. To still separate your living area and your sleeping area, you can use a room divider or room divider. By separating separate living areas, you also maintain overview and tranquility in your home.

A tidy house with not too many things also ensures peace. You often have more stuff in your house than you might think. Therefore, tidy up a lot and bring things that you no longer use to the thrift store!

3.       Into the height

Your bed is the most important element in your bedroom. Make sure your bed is comfortable enough and in a small home it is important to choose a high bed. You can easily place drawers under a high bed. You create extra storage space with this.

A wardrobe also takes up a lot of space, so it is important to use the height of your home. So choose a cabinet that is as high as possible. This way you can store all your clothes and make optimal use of the space!

4.       Light colors

Dark colors absorb light, making a room look smaller. Light colors, on the other hand, reflect the light, making the room appear optically larger. Light colors in your interior will therefore only enhance the natural light. So it is very important to use enough light colors on the walls and light colored furniture in a micro home!

Lighting is also an important part of your interior. If you do not have large windows in your home, it is important to provide lighting at different levels. Consider, for example, a ceiling lamp, wall lamp, floor lamp and a bedside table lamp. The variation ensures that the small space appears optically larger.

5.       Floating furniture

loating furniture and shelves are ideal for a studio! Many pieces of furniture can also be made floating, such as a TV cabinet, bedside tables and a desk. This creates space and also looks sleek! A bookcase also takes up a lot of space. You can do this in a smarter way by hanging up different shelves and placing your things on them.
