The rural interior style is characterised by its calm, robust and above all cosy look. This style creates a warm and homely feeling, because not everything is taut. Large and robust furniture is often used. The basic colours of this style are various shades of grey and white, but earthy tones are also often used.
Natural materials cannot be missing from a rural style. Think stone floors, wooden furniture and various natural fabrics such as leather and wool. By using lots of accessories such as decorative cushions, wall decorations and (dried) flowers, you can complete this style!
The industrial style is characterised by dark/neutral colours, robust furniture and natural materials. Typically industrial are a cast floor, metal stairs, beams, brick wall, metal accents and vintage furniture. All these elements combine to create a cool look to the space.
Reusing old stuff is one of the best-known features of this style. Especially if the item is nicely weathered, so you can really see that it is old. The older the furniture, the more beautiful it becomes! This way, you have a sustainable and eco-friendly interior.
A scandinavish interior is characterised by lots of light, tranquillity and space. It is a simple style, with not too many crazy and eye-catching items. Light colours and soft tones are often used, with white and grey as basic colours. Furniture is made of natural and durable materials including linen, cotton and wood.
In general, the Scandinavian style has a rather sober look, so for accessories you can use natural rugs, large plants, large/fluffy cushions and sofa rugs.
Classic style is characterised by being elegant and symmetrical. Furthermore, it has many refined details and uses rich materials. Think antique furniture, chandeliers, heavy curtains and ornate patterns.
Furniture and accessories of a classic interior are often years old, which is why we quickly refer to it as a vintage interior. When a house is decorated classically in its entirety, the rooms in the house can feel corny. If you want to avoid this but do like old and classic furniture, you can choose to buy just a few vintage pieces and combine them with an industrial or country style, for example.
Modern design is clean, minimalist and functional. It emphasises simplicity and open spaces. Materials such as glass, steel and concrete are often used. A modern interior often consists of clean lines, straight shapes and luxurious materials. Dark shades are combined with light colours. Actually, you don't speak of colours, because white, grey and black tones predominate in modern interiors.
By making frequent use of rectangular furniture such as a square coffee table, a rectangular dining table, a corner sofa and by painting one wall in a different colour, a modern look for your interior is quickly created. A modern living style is characterised by a sober and clean design. Less is more, so lots of accessories are not necessary! But you can place a striking designer lamp, for example.
The above interior styles are popular and often used, but of course there are many more interior styles you can go for. Therefore, in our next blog on home & interior, you will read more about the following interior styles: bohemian, botanical, eclectic, minimalist and vintage
